Weir PAC is a volunteer-based committee made up of parents from Dr. George M. Weir Elementary School who work together towards the common goal of supporting our children's education and building a strong sense of community among Weir parents.
The PAC acts as liaison between parents and the school’s administrators. We organize social events, advocate for students’ needs and raise money to fund school programs and equipment.
What does PAC do?
Weir PAC runs several programs such as:
Hot Lunch program
Dairy (milk/soy) program
Fresh Fruit/Vegetable program
Scholastic Book Fairs
Sports Day
These PAC-run programs, along with other fund-raising activities, have provided the school with the following:
Technology - class sets of iPads, smart boards, classroom projectors
New books for the school library and classrooms
Music program - instruments such as ukuleles and before-school strings program
New Primary Playground (2016) and maintenance of Intermediate Playground
Sports equipment
Funding for Grade 7 Camp bus
Contributions to classroom budgets
Without involvement of Weir parents such as yourselves, these programs could not continue, and our children would have to make do without many things that enrich their education.
Who is in PAC?
Every parent and/or guardian of a student attending Weir Elementary is a member of PAC. So YOU are already a member of PAC!
What can I do?
COME TO A MEETING! It's a chance to meet the principal and hear about what's going on at Weir.
Click here to find details about past and upcoming meetings.
For in-person meetings at the school, child care (provided by Grade 7 students) will be available for families with school-aged children.
VOLUNTEER for one of our events and programs. You don't have a lot of time? Some of our programs take up no more than 30 minutes! Sign up for as many or as few times as is convenient. It's a fun way to meet other parents and enjoy some school spirit.
