All parents who have a child attending Weir Elementary are welcome to be part of the PAC executive. Being part of the PAC Executive is a 10-month commitment.
PAC Chair works closely with the School Administration and PAC Executive to plan, coordinate and execute a variety of tasks throughout the school year. The Chair builds a community within the school by:
Planning PAC coffee mornings, PAC meetings, and guest speakers throughout the year
Overseeing the PAC budget with the treasurer and the school secretary
Working with the Principal to plan fundraising events, PAC meetings, and other tasks throughout the year
Sitting on the School Planning council for the school year
Working with and supporting all of the committee leaders
Co-signing all cheques with the treasurer
PAC Co-Chairs work with the PAC Chair on all of the tasks listed above.
PAC Secretary is responsible for taking and distributing minutes at all meetings. The secretary helps the PAC Chair and Vice Chair with all school initiatives listed above. Treasurer works with the school secretary to maintain all PAC bank accounts and co-signs all cheques with the PAC Chair. The treasurer is responsible for applying for the gaming grant each year and submitting the year-end financial report to the B.C. government that shows how the gaming grant was spent.
ROLES OF THE COMMITTEE LEADERS
Committee Leaders are just as important to our school community. These great individuals make things happen at our school. It require less time commitment but is still a great way to contribute to Weir.
Hot Lunch Committee Leader: Parents and students alike love the hot lunch program. This committee leader will oversee all aspects of the hot lunch program. Tasks include sourcing hot lunch vendors, coordinating order forms, and coordinating volunteers to tabulate the orders and distribute the hot lunches.
Book Fair Committee Leader: The Scholastic Book Fair is typically held in the spring and fall of each school year. This committee leader will set the book fair dates, coordinate volunteers, and oversee the operation of the two-day book fair which happens twice a year.
Fruit & Vegetable Committee Leader: Our school participates in the BC Fruit and Vegetable program. Throughout the school year, a variety of fruits and vegetables are delivered to the school and distributed to the classrooms. This committee leader is responsible for coordinating volunteers throughout the year.
Milk & Dairy Committee Leader: Free dairy products are available to Kindergarten to Grade 5 students. This committee leader coordinates and prepares for the distribution of the dairy products to participating divisions.
Sports Day Committee Leader: Sports Day is one of the PAC's biggest fundraisers of the year. The committee leader is responsible for chairing a committee to organize Sports Day. The committee's tasks include planning the menu, organizing and buying food, and coordinating volunteers for Sports Day.
Communications Leader: Our PAC is dedicated to communicating with parents about all of the initiatives listed above, information about upcoming meetings, and ways you can get involved. This committee leader is responsible for sending monthly email newsletters, and creating other communications materials to spread the word. This committee leader manages the Weir PAC website and makes sure the very latest information is posted.
